Automated/Electric Doors
Fitting an automated garage door is the type of home improvement a lot of people put off for years, then wonder why they didn’t do it sooner. It’s pretty satisfying to pull right up to your garage, press a button, and the door opens before you’ve even taken your seatbelt off.
Sectional Garage Doors
Sectional doors are becoming more common in the UK; however, more traditional up-and-over doors still prevail. There are pros to each system type, but sectional garage doors are worth evaluating if you are considering replacing your garage door.
Sectional garage doors consist of 4-5 hinged panels. When opened, these panels roll up onto tracks and sit flush against the ceiling, which keeps the front of your garage clear. This feature is especially useful if your driveway is short or if you park in front of the garage.

Side Hinged Doors
They are the oldest style of garage door because they open up like a big garden gate. They are not as popular as they used to be, but honestly this style is a great choice when they are used properly.
They are very simple, two doors that fit into the garage opening. One door is hinged to the left, the other to the right. In the centre is a lock to secure the two doors closed. To gain access to the garage, just unlock the centre lock and swing open one of the doors. When you need to drive the car out of the garage, then you can swing both doors open. Super simple and very effective.
Up and Over Garage Doors
In the UK, up and over garage doors are the most popular garage doors. They are affordable, easy to install, and have been around the longest.
Up and over garage doors have a single flat panel, which tilts up and slides on a track system into the garage. There are two main types of up and over doors: canopy and retractable. Canopy doors will have a third of the door sticking out into the driveway when it is open. Retractable doors will fully tuck into the garage, which is the most common door type as it provides a fully clear driveway.

Which type of door is best?
There’s no single answer – it depends on your garage and what you need. Up-and-over doors are the cheapest and most straightforward. Sectionals are better if you want insulation or you’re tight for space. Rollers work well if you’ve got an awkward opening or limited headroom. We can advise when we see what you’re working with.
